Kent and Margaret's journey together began more than 40 years ago in graduate school at Stanford University, where they earned doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology. During their careers, they taught and conducted research, both at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and later at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Kent's research specialty was health psychology with a focus on stress and coping with illness, injury, and disaster. Margaret's research focus was on family psychology. They are the parents of three and the grandparents of four.
Their love of nature, belief in the ultimate goodness of humanity, and hope for a healthier and more peaceful existence for all were the sources of inspiration for their publications and workshops on well-being.
